Saturday Stirrings

saturdaystirrings.jpg

So my friend DeeDee has this thing going on at her blog every Saturday (which, by the way, is the funniest blog you will ever read), anyway the thing or meme is called Saturday Stirrings.

It is a blogger’s recipe exchange.

Only trouble is to add your name to her list you must have a recipe posted on your blog.

Which means you should cook.

Or at least have some great recipes to share from those days when perhaps you did cook. Or tried to cook. Or thought of cooking. Or looked at pretty pictures of cooking.

I’d really rather share a picture of my collection of dusty decorative cookbooks but that’s not the deal with Saturday Stirrings. Maybe I’ll start a meme about “The Looking of Cooking” - you know, one that shows pretty pictures of cookbooks, cute recipe cards, unique aprons, unusual potholders, interesting serving pieces, and of course, darling dishes, terrific teapots, and dandy dinnerware.

Yep, that’s me – always “looking” the part but not necessarily “cooking the part“ (okay, no one in my family is allowed to comment on this post!)

Anywho, here’s a recipe for something that I actually do make – on occasion….mainly special occasions. They are great to take along when you’ve been asked to bring an hors de’ouvres (and yes, I spelled that all by myself! just one of many lessons learned from time spent as a Catering Director) -and this makes a nice Easter dinner appetizer, too.

Ham and Artichoke Wraps

1 can artichoke hearts
1 package of Danish Sliced Ham
1 Bottle of Italian dressing
Toothpicks

Drain artichoke hearts and cut into quarters.  Cut ham into strips about an inch wide and wrap around the artichoke quarters. Secure with a toothpick. Place in an “interesting serving piece” or “decorative dish” that is at least two inches deep and has a cover. Pour the entire bottle of Italian Dressing over the wraps – chill for several hours – and walaah – your petite Ham and Artichoke Wraps are ready.

There has never even been a toothpick left in the dish at the end of the night – so I guess that means they are pretty tasty.

Enjoy!

Be Blessed! Make this Day Count!
